Introducing Carlos Posadas, Executive Director of Eco-Alianza de Loreto

The Board of Directors of Eco-Alianza proudly announces the election of L.C.P. Carlos David Posadas Solano as our new Executive Director. For several years, Carlos has served on both our Advisory Board and as a member of our Board of Directors. We look forward to the application of his enthusiasm, dedication and commitment to our mission of environmental education and protections for Loreto and its surroundings.

Carlos comes to us directly from a position with the Loreto Municipality, where he has served as Technical Director for the last three and half years. Working closely with both Mayors Arely Arce Peralta and Paola M. Cota Davis, he was involved in development and planning, public relations, and coordination with other directors. One of Carlos’ many strengths is his ability to create and work with teams, and provide direction for maintaining overall infrastructure.

His passion for education stems from life long-learning, and his positions as both instructor and director at the high school and university levels. Carlos served as the Director of Autonomous University of Baja California Sur (UABCS), Loreto Campus, for six and a half years, and was responsible for the personnel, the administration of courses, and strategic planning for the University. As an instructor, he taught Modern History, Comparative Political Science, Classic and Modern Political Theory, Sociology, and Public Administration at the Federal, State, and Municipal levels. Carlos studied Law at Metropolitan Autonomous University, Mexico, holds a Bachelor of Political Science and Public Administration, UABCS, and a Master’s Certificate in Economics of the Environment and Natural Resources.

Carlos moved to Loreto with his family in 2005, and immediately fell in love with the location and community. He settled in Loreto full time thirteen years ago with his wife, Rosita De la Toba, and their children, fulfilling his dream of raising their family surrounded by nature.

As Executive Director of Eco-Alianza, Carlos assumes the leadership to follow and reinforce our Mission and Vision to expand our educational programs, the Loreto Coastkeeper, and to bring more community involvement into programs such as testing for potable drinking water in collaboration with the Municipality and the Federal government. Carlos’ passions include the education of youth as the next generation of environmental ambassadors, and the engagement of the entire Loreto community in the protection and health of our natural resources. He recognizes that each person has a contributory value, and sees it as his task to engage and connect the people, schools, government, and NGOs in creating a rich future.

Carlos is eager to begin collaboration with the CEMA Executive Director, Sula Vanderplank, in the expansion of outreach within the community. He sees a synergistic relationship of the two entities, with focuses in areas such as the clean water, Sea Turtle preservation, and expanded educational opportunities. It is our dream that together Eco-Alianza with CEMA will create a nexus that connects researchers, students, and institutions from Mexico and around the world with local stakeholders to help reverse ecosystem deterioration and mitigate environmental challenges.

Carlos Posadas, the Board of Directors and Advisory Board of Eco-Alianza wish to extend their deepest gratitude to Hugo Quintero, Co-founder, first Board President, Executive President and CEO for his fifteen years of dedication and personal impact in development of the Sister Park alliance, UC Sister Reserve (University of California Natural Reserve System), Loreto Ideal,  Environmental Education programs, Loreto Coastkeeper, Watershed Protection Campaign, Park Advisory Board, sustainable fisheries and resource management, Alternative Livelihoods (with an initial focus on the fishing community of Loreto), circular economy, management of urban planning and development, Eco-Alianza’s 2020 Food Security Program, and the mission/vision of CEMA, Centro de Estudios del Medio Ambiente. As friends and colleagues, we all wish Hugo well in his future endeavors.
