The 18th Anniversary Gala is just around the corner—
buy your tickets now Preserving our Natural Treasures
The Annual Eco-Alianza Gala has been called “the best party in town” by past attendees, and for good reason. Once a year, we take over the top floor of La Mision Hotel, transform the room into a wonderland with thematic and creative decorations ,and set the stage for gourmet dining and strategic fundraising. Dining tables surround a center stage, where both honors are bestowed for valuable conservation work and live auction items are presented for competitive bidding. From the complimentary glass of festive champagne at check-in, through a sumptuous meal and silent auction offerings, the night promises to enhance friendships, commitments, and help us continue our mission of a sustainable future for all Loretanos.
Please join us this 8th of November in celebration of 18 years of focused work in conservation and environmental stewardship. Click here for ticket information:

WE LOVE SEA TURTLES!
LORETO CELEBRATES CONSERVATION

The sighting of turtles swimming in our treasured Sea of Cortez or trudging ashore to lay their eggs is a cause for celebration. The turtle’s presence in our waters play a critical role in the health of our eco-system. Who doesn’t smile when a tiny turtle head breaks the surface of the water? Hunted to near extinction and population collapse, protections which ban turtle harvesting and egg poaching now support a slow recovery. Locally, we most likely to engage with the Green and Ridley species.
The 2nd Sea Turtle Conservation Outreach Forum was held from September 25 to 27 in Loreto, and consolidated itself as a source to strengthen knowledge, social commitment, and conservation actions. Community participation formed its core, and highlighted the work of local monitors in protecting sea turtles, and demonstrated how collaboration between academia, civil society, and community members is essential to achieve lasting conservation results.
The combined inter-institutional efforts of the Honorable XI Municipality of Loreto, the Autonomous University of Baja California Sur, the “Marcelo Rubio Ruiz” Regional Center for Teacher Education, and the Bahía de Loreto National Park, made this gathering possible—an event in which the community participated not only as spectators but as protagonists. Public activities were held in the town square, featuring interactive stands and the screening of the documentary The House of the Turtle, which brought Loreto families closer to the reality of these animals at risk of extinction.
Eco-Alianza de Loreto played a fundamental role in this effort, and organized a sea turtle rally that brought children and teenagers together on the beach to learn in a playful way about the ecological importance of turtles and the threats they face. This type of initiative strengthens environmental awareness from an early age and builds a sense of shared responsibility toward the natural environment.
Eco-Alianza continues to work consistently on monitoring projects in feeding areas, in collaboration with local communities and environmental authorities, generating key information for decision-making and for the comprehensive protection of these species.
The forum contributed to the dissemination of knowledge and promoted community networks and citizen participation as drivers of change. The union of local and inter-institutional efforts strengthens the focus of effective and sustainable conservation of sea turtles in the Loreto region
