Many Loreto restaurants and businesses close for part of September, but that's no indicator of the level of activity taking place. To the contrary, a more accurate indicator may be the huge new highway welcome signs or the two new bridges being built between the airport and Loreto Bay. LORETO COASTKEEPER® In 2014, the Loreto COASTKEEPER initiative became fully operational with the help of our advisory scientist, Chuck Mitchell, and the efforts of Hector Trinidad and Alex Estrada. The water-monitoring program of the beaches in and around Loreto was established to better inform the public about clean swimmable beaches. Bi-monthly samples are taken at 12 separate beaches, processed in the Eco-Alianza laboratory, and the results are posted on the Eco-Alianza website, Facebook page and the WATERKEEPER Swim Guide [...]

As we enter the "dog days" of summer, Eco-Alianza is buzzing with activity and planning for several important new projects to be unveiled over the next year. For all our supporters and interested onlookers, we are expanding our communications outreach by increasing the frequency of our online newsletter and our social media, and by initiating another exciting new communications project that we will report on here next month.
Expanding the Sister City Relationship between Loreto, Baja California Sur, México and Ventura, California U.S.A. In a ceremony both solemn and impassioned, the Loreto City Council voted unanimously on Monday, the 5th of June, to approve the Sister City relationship between Loreto and Buenaventura (Ventura).
